Helping to Secure & Reopen the Forest School in the Heights, Serving 300 Children
The Forest School is a new school that focuses on educating children using the nature environments of the surrounding forest. The school meets and exceeds all ministry of education standards for education and has been growing each year by adding a grade in each academic year. The School serves over 300 children, plus teachers and administrators and has a 65 family waiting list. The children are taught outdoors, by grade level in classes under large trees.
The children learn all the typical coursework but also have daily interactions with plants and trees, animals and weather. In this beautiful setting they engage their senses in an active environment of learning.
Due to the setting of outdoor learning, the Israeli Ministry of Education will not allow the school to continue without shelters large enough to house all of the children and staff. Currently, we have donors who are donating several small shelters, but the municipality has determined that there is a need for two giant 45 square meter secure classrooms / shelters which would be the only real buildings on the school site and would meet the safety needs to keep the school going and the children safe. These building would serve as the physical school property for all 300 kids.
The Mayor and the Regional Council of the Golan Heights is matching the funds from Daystar to build one of the 45 meter buildings. The municipality will sign a contract with the builder to build the second one immediately.
Daystar is funding to construct this educational building that is a large shelter and this will secure the matching funds from the regional council for the construction of the second matching shelter.
