Daystar Bringing Hope to a New Generation of Survivors: Serving October 7 Victims in Israel

In the wake of the horrific October 7 attacks in Israel, a new generation of survivors is emerging—scarred by trauma, grief, and profound loss. Over the past few weeks, Daystar  partner, Reach Initiative has stepped through a door God has opened to serve these deeply wounded individuals, including recently released hostages, survivors of the Nova music festival massacre, and the families of those still held captive in Gaza.

The stories being shared are heartbreaking. The need for practical help and spiritual healing is both massive and immediate.

Drawing from decades of experience ministering to Holocaust survivors, this ministry recognizes that the Lord has uniquely prepared them for such a time as this. Their longstanding “Comfort for Holocaust Survivors” initiative has provided both material and emotional support to those who endured the darkest chapter of the 20th century. Now, they are extending that same heart of compassion to the traumatized survivors of October 7.

One of the first individuals they helped was Itai, a young man who survived the massacre at the Nova music festival. His connection to the ministry began years earlier through his grandfather, a Holocaust survivor they had previously served. After losing two close friends and suffering from severe PTSD, Itai struggled to make ends meet. The ministry stepped in to help cover his rent and counseling costs—support that Itai credits with helping him survive.

“There was life before Oct 7 and life after Oct 7, and it will never be the same,” Itai shared. “The fact that I am still here, working and living my life, is just because of the help of your organization. I will cherish it until the end of my life.”

Today, inspired by his grandfather’s legacy, Itai has become a leading voice for October 7 victims, serving as the spokesperson for an advocacy group representing survivors and bereaved families. His story, and the open doors it has helped create, are part of a growing movement to bring comfort, hope, and the love of Yeshua to a hurting people.

Looking ahead, the ministry has set a faith goal of raising funds this spring to meet the urgent needs of at least 100 October 7 survivors and their families. These funds will provide:

  • Food vouchers for children and unemployed families
  • Financial assistance for trauma counseling
  • Help with overdue rent and utility bills
  • Renewal programs and retreats beginning this fall
  • Emergency support for other critical needs

This effort is more than humanitarian relief—it is a mission to bring healing, dignity, and the hope found only in Yeshua to those walking through some of life’s darkest valleys.

The ministry invites others to join them in prayer and financial support, partnering together to be a light in this time of deep need.

Though the stories may not be shared publicly, the impact is real—and growing. Through faith, compassion, and practical care, this ministry continues to embody the love of Messiah to a new generation of Israel’s suffering people.
